"Sarge" 22 January 1988

As a youngster, Sarge spent his time as Steve's trucking buddy, not entering the show ring until he was 19 months old. He gained his NZ Championship very quickly and had only a short show career before retiring again to continue his main role as Steve's best buddy and "son".

The highlight of Sarge's show career was winning Best In Show at the Southern Cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club Championship show in 1990, under Mr Mike Homan - the first UK breed specialist to judge a breed championship show in New Zealand.

Sareg also won Best Intermediate (2 to 3 years of age) In Show at two All Breeds Championship shows and won Best Veteran in Show at 3 Stafford Club Championship shows (Trevor Rowe (UK), Malcolm Boam (UK) & Robert du Plooy (Sth Africa) and a Terrier Club Championship show, proving that a good dog is always a good dog, regardless of age.

Sarge sired only a very few litters and his influence lives on through his daughter Cleo.
